Lunch at Murano<\/a> today, what a disappointment.\u00a0It is so old fashioned and not in good way, rather the kind of food you might have found acceptable in the 80’s.\u00a0 Just not a gourmet experience. We were really glad we decided to go for the \u00a330 set lunch and not the overpriced tasting menu.<\/p>\n

We started with fairly ordinary bread with a good olive oil and some charcuterie. Then\u00a0a Chicken Ravioli that was too salty and a rather ordinary beef carpaccio.\u00a0 The main courses consisted off a coronary inducing calf liver, with capers\u00a0in a red wine\u00a0jus with mash and a salmon\u00a0dish decorated with\u00a0pea shoots. Pre dessert was Tiramisu and dessert was a peanut\u00a0butter crumble\u00a0with caramelized bananas – very uninspiring.<\/p>\n

The wine list was disappointing too, the mark up did seem to be excessive.\u00a0 It was difficult to find a decent glass of wine for less than \u00a314.00.<\/p>\n

It was so hard not to compare the Murano experience with our recent visit to Texture<\/a>, which just served to emphasize everything that was wrong with Murano.<\/p>\n

Overrated and based on our experience,\u00a0cooking that is not of a Michelin star level.\u00a0 Another Faux Gourmet experience in a restaurant that looked the part but failed to deliver.<\/p>\n
