The room is fairly large,\u00a0but perhaps not ideal for\u00a0big groups,\u00a0our table was a bit cramped for 8 people.<\/p>\n<div id='gallery-1' class='gallery galleryid-7679 gallery-columns-2 \/><\/a>\n\t\t\t<\/div><\/figure>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">On the food front the\u00a0highlight was the charcuterie trolley service, which several of my companions ordered. This is\u00a0something the\u00a0Almeida is\u00a0famous for reviving, it includes\u00a0home made rillettes, terrines and pat\u00e9s served with homemade pickles and I must say that it provides for a fairly substantial starter. One I wished I had ordered. My venison salad\u00a0was very nice,\u00a0but\u00a0it did not have the wow factor of the trolley service.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">For my main course I had the rib eye steak with lovely\u00a0fluffy pommes pont neuf &#8211;\u00a0certainly the best Jenga chips\u00a0I have had for a while!<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">The rest of the menu was fairly classic for this type of venue, it included oysters, duck,\u00a0beef\u00a0and suckling pig.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">To\u00a0finish the meal I had a surprisingly\u00a0light pineapple tarte tartin.\u00a0This dish takes 20 minutes to prepare as it is\u00a0created from scratch &#8211; its worth the wait.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">UPDATE : March 2010 &#8211; made a return visit\u00a0and\u00a0ordered from\u00a0the charcuterie trolley; highly recommended.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"Top page - Noexpert.co.uk\" href=\"https:\/\/www.noexpert.co.uk\/food\">Return to top page<\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I made a return visit to Almeida for a friends birthday celebration (Happy Birthday Chris).\u00a0 My\u00a0last visit was during chocolate week, see post:- Almeida &#8211; not just for chocoholics The restaurant\u00a0is a\u00a0very popular pre-theatre venue, so it was a bit more difficult on a Saturday night to get a seat in the bar area.
