{"id":4557,"date":"2009-01-06T22:35:57","date_gmt":"2009-01-06T21:35:57","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/noexpert.co.uk\/?p=4557"},"modified":"2021-10-31T17:13:30","modified_gmt":"2021-10-31T17:13:30","slug":"the-capital-post-christmas-treat","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.noexpert.co.uk\/food\/?p=4557","title":{"rendered":"The Capital &#8211; post Christmas treat"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a title=\"The Capital\" href=\"http:\/\/www.capitalhotel.co.uk\/restaurantbar.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Capital<\/a> had been on my wish list for ages. \u00a0I certainly did not expect to get a booking at a few days notice, especially for lunch on the Saturday after Christmas.\u00a0 However if you do not try, you do not get.\u00a0 One email reply later and we were all set.\u00a0 The down side was that\u00a0the only choice seemed to be the a la carte menu.<\/p>\n<p>I was pleasantly surprised by the size of the room, it is small and quite intimate.<\/p>\n<p>The style of food was pretty conventional &#8211; classic french cuisine.\u00a0 One standout was a herring fish course, the flavour was so strong and distinct.<\/p>\n<p>The matching wines were also first rate, even if they did\u00a0push the price up quite dramatically.
