{"id":13119,"date":"2010-11-14T21:14:58","date_gmt":"2010-11-14T21:14:58","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/noexpert.co.uk\/?p=13119"},"modified":"2021-10-31T23:22:43","modified_gmt":"2021-10-31T23:22:43","slug":"the-wine-show-and-masterchef-live-2010","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.noexpert.co.uk\/food\/?p=13119","title":{"rendered":"The Wine Show and Masterchef Live 2010"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Made good use of a friends free ticket to\u00a0 <a title=\"Wine show\" href=\"http:\/\/www.wineshow.co.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Wine Show<\/a> and <a title=\"Master Chef Live\" href=\"http:\/\/www.londonbbcgoodfoodshow.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Master Chef Live,<\/a> bumped into several people I knew, which was nice. Surprisingly sociable for such a huge event.<\/p>\n<p>I spent the bulk of my time at The Wine Show, as the Master Chef Live stands on the whole were very busy.<\/p>\n<p>The event was not restricted to\u00a0 just wine, as delicatessens such as <a title=\"Gastronomica\" href=\"https:\/\/www.noexpert.co.uk\/food\/?p=10899\" target=\"_self\">Gastronomic<\/a> were there, along with\u00a0 chocolatiers such as <a title=\"Chocolate and Love\" href=\"http:\/\/www.chocolateandlove.com\/categories-products\/dark-chocolate\/chocolate-and-love-c-299_330_363.html\" target=\"_self\">Chocolate and Love<\/a>.\u00a0 There was also the rather amusing <a title=\"Mad Cow Fudge\" href=\"http:\/\/www.madcowfudge.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Mad Cow Fudge company<\/a>, selling fudge &#8220;Made by cows from Yorkshire who like their Huddersfield&#8221;. Their Christmas Pudding fudge is a real winner.<\/p>\n<div id='gallery-1' class='gallery galleryid-13119 gallery-columns-3 gallery-size-thumbnail'><figure class='gallery-item'>\n\t\t\t<div alt=\"\" \/><\/a>\n\t\t\t<\/div><\/figure>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\n<p>On the wine front we tried several very good wines.\u00a0 <a title=\"Wines of Chile\" href=\"http:\/\/www.winesofchile.org\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Wines of Chile<\/a> for example had successfully matched their wines with some delicious <a title=\"Benares\" href=\"http:\/\/www.benaresrestaurant.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Benares<\/a> curries.\u00a0 I also had an interesting chat with Mark Hellyar of <a title=\"Chateau Civrac\" href=\"http:\/\/www.civrac.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Chateau Civrac<\/a> on popularising wines from the Bordeaux region, and sampled a couple of\u00a0 their\u00a0 full bodied wines.\u00a0 Chateau Civrac supply wines to several restaurants including <a title=\"Benares\" href=\"http:\/\/www.benaresrestaurant.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Benares<\/a>. I then moved on to the\u00a0next stand <a title=\"Cirotto\" href=\"http:\/\/www.cirottovini.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Cantina Cirotto<\/a> to try their rather lovely Prosecco. We also had a short presentation on what makes a good dessert wine from <a title=\"Tastour\" href=\"http:\/\/www.tastour.co.uk\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Tastour<\/a> and enjoyed a nice glass of German Eiswein.<\/p>\n<p>The highlight however had to be the <a title=\"Coutts Private Cellar\" href=\"http:\/\/www.wineshow.co.uk\/coutts-private-cellar\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Coutts Private Cellar<\/a>, where <a title=\"Tim Atkin\" href=\"http:\/\/www.timatkin.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Tim Atkin<\/a> gave his presentation and several high end wine merchants provided samples of their wares. My personal favorite was the Cascina Bongiovanni Barola Pernanne 2004 from <a title=\"Colasanti\" href=\"http:\/\/colasanti.co.uk\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Colasanti<\/a> (\u00a371.50 RPR) .
