{"id":12501,"date":"2010-10-17T17:46:06","date_gmt":"2010-10-17T16:46:06","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/noexpert.co.uk\/?p=12501"},"modified":"2021-10-31T23:00:33","modified_gmt":"2021-10-31T23:00:33","slug":"chocolate-unwrapped-at-vinopolis","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.noexpert.co.uk\/food\/?p=12501","title":{"rendered":"Chocolate Unwrapped at Vinopolis"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>It&#8217;s a change of venue for the <a title=\"Chocolate Unwrapped\" href=\"http:\/\/www.chocolate-unwrapped.co.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Chocolate Unwrapped<\/a> show this year.\u00a0 <a title=\"Chocolate Unwrapped - 2009\" href=\"https:\/\/www.noexpert.co.uk\/food\/?p=4776\" target=\"_self\">Last year it was at the Mayfair Hotel<\/a>, this year it moved to the rather more interesting <a title=\"Vinopolis\" href=\"http:\/\/www.vinopolis.co.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Vinopolis<\/a>.\u00a0 The new venue though did not work as well for the lectures. <a title=\"Paul A Young\" href=\"http:\/\/www.paulayoung.co.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Paul A Young<\/a>&#8216;s talks\u00a0 for example were averaging about 90 attendees instead of the expected 30.\u00a0 Fortunately he warned us about the over attendance and we got in early enough to get front row seats. His talk was suitably entertaining,\u00a0 I was especially amused by the story that his mother still buys him Quality Street for Christmas.<\/p>\n<div id='gallery-1' class='gallery galleryid-12501 alt=\"\" \/><\/a>\n\t\t\t<\/div><\/figure>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">The Chocolate Art work was fun, especially the gorilla. Thorntons Eiffel Tower was hideous though.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">There were lots of new stands this year.\u00a0 <a title=\"Matcha Chocolat\" href=\"http:\/\/matchachocolat.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Matcha Chocolat<\/a> with their tea and chocolate combinations were especially interesting.\u00a0 All the chocolates and the brownie we had from <a title=\"Paul A Young\" href=\"http:\/\/www.paulayoung.co.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Paul A Young<\/a> were really good, I even found his new Marmite chocolate unoffensive. I loved <a title=\"William Curley\" href=\"http:\/\/www.williamcurley.co.uk\/engine\/shop\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">William Curley&#8217;s<\/a> Cinnamon Milk Chocolate.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">There were some novelties too.\u00a0 Like <a title=\"Chocri\" href=\"http:\/\/chocri.co.uk\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Chocri<\/a>, who let you play chocolatier, choosing toppings and having your name on the bar and the Lebanese company <a title=\"Patchi\" href=\"http:\/\/patchi.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Patchi<\/a>, who seemed to focus on very ornate packaging for special occasions like weddings, baby showers and embassy do&#8217;s &#8211; kinda OTT Ferrier Roche!.\u00a0 Thorntons were there too this year, showing yet again just how big a gap there is between the mass market chocolatiers and the artisan chocolatiers.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">This event is definately in the diary again for next year.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"Top page - Noexpert.co.uk\" href=\"https:\/\/www.noexpert.co.uk\/food\">Return to top page<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>It&#8217;s a change of venue for the Chocolate Unwrapped show this year.\u00a0 Last year it was at the Mayfair Hotel, this year it moved to the rather more interesting Vinopolis.\u00a0 The new venue though did not work as well for the lectures.
