{"id":10217,"date":"2010-06-20T12:29:28","date_gmt":"2010-06-20T11:29:28","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/noexpert.co.uk\/?p=10217"},"modified":"2021-11-01T23:11:32","modified_gmt":"2021-11-01T23:11:32","slug":"blue-print-cafe-focusing-on-the-view","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.noexpert.co.uk\/food\/?p=10217","title":{"rendered":"Blueprint Cafe &#8211; focusing on the view"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Had lunch at the <a title=\"Blueprint Cafe\" href=\"http:\/\/www.blueprintcafe.co.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Blueprint Cafe<\/a>, it&#8217;s a hard location to beat.\u00a0 They sat us at a great table by the window with a panoramic view of Tower Bridge and the Thames.\u00a0 They also supplied a pair of binoculars, so the view is obviously a big attraction.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s been years since my last visit, and\u00a0 the decor\/style of the place has certainly\u00a0changed. The mackerel was a bit overcooked, but the pickled cucumbers with mustard and dill that accompanied it was delicious &#8211; <a title=\"Recipe\" href=\"http:\/\/www.epicurious.com\/recipes\/food\/views\/Cucumber-Mustard-and-Dill-Salad-230740\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">click here for a recipe<\/a><\/p>\n<p>For main course I had grilled leg of lamb with tomatoes and courgettes, the lamb was perfect (well apart from the fact there was not enough of it and there was a real glut of vegetables).\u00a0 The meringue dessert was rather messy looking but tasted good,\u00a0however the strawberry shortcake was less successful,\u00a0 not my idea of shortcake. It was\u00a0 more like oatcake, with cream and strawberries, basically rather dull.<\/p>\n<p>So in conclusion, great view, OK food. I would make a return visit, but next time I will lower my expectations and focus on the view.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Update : April 2012 &#8211; The Blueprint Cafe has a new chef, Mark Jarvis.
